JOAN MIRÒ. The garden of wonders

Information

This exhibition boasts around sixty works, all extremely colourful and of enormous visual impact, guiding us on a path through Joan Miró‘s graphic work. The Catalan artist approached his graphic work with enormous intensity and the results were extraordinary. The exhibition opens chronologically with a rare 1953 lithograph, created to celebrate the centenary of the renowned parisian poster printers Mourlot, reference point for the most important twentieth century artists, including Picasso, Matisse, Braque, Chagall and Marino. The exhibition continues with lithographs and engravings which attest to Miró’s total mastery of these techniques and ability to experiment and innovate, producing three-dimensional effects, with relief impressions, by the use of of carborundum and concretions of colour. Many of the works shown were created by Miró as art book illustrations, with texts by Queneau, Jarry, Prévert and others, in a fertile dialogue between painting and poetry.
