Mario Nigro was born in Pistoia on 28 June 1917
In 1929, he moved with his family to Livorno, where he began painting as a self-taught artist In 1941, he graduated in chemistry from the University of Pisa and in 1947 he obtained a second degree in pharmacy
1949 was the year of his first solo exhibition at the Libreria Salto in Milan: it was here that the artist met Lucio Fontana and the Milanese context of the Movimento Arte Concreta With the Simultaneous Continuous Rhythms cycle and the Chess Panels cycle, Mario Nigro surpasses the canons of Concretism
At the end of 1952, the artist created the first works belonging to the Total Space which he recounts in texts published between 1954 and 1955…
