A Map for Leaving
This imaginary map by Piero Pizzi Cannella, featuring islands, peninsulas, continents, and seas, seems to point us toward a path, a travel itinerary, perhaps even an escape route. Ancient monuments, with domes and colonnades, may indicate stops along the way, alongside fingerprints and dotted red lines, with arrows alluding to departures and returns. The outlines of physical places, like those of the monuments, fade until they bleed onto the canvas. They are traces, memories, fossils—perhaps from a distant past, perhaps desires for the future.
